A young woman watches as her brother is killed in a graveyard by a walking dead man. She runs away and smashes her car into a tree, getting out just in time to avoid being attacked by the dead man. Her situation is desperate as she runs across a field in a state she’s never been to. She sees an old farmhouse, and runs for it in blind terror, hoping that the dead man does not catch up to her before she gets into the house. When the dead start to walk and kill, your options for survival in a strange land are very low.
This is the first 5 min. of Night of the Living Dead, the scariest movie Ever made. For sheer suspense and a nonstop feeling of impending doom, there is no equal to this film. It caused quite a sensation when released in 1968, and horror films were never the same since.
Do something special on Halloween after all the little crumb-crunchers have gone home to stuff themselves. Take your copy of Night of the Living Dead, lock all the doors, turn off the telephone and the computer, turn off all the lights and then turn on the DVD player. Immerse yourself in 90 min. of unrelenting terror that is Night of The Living Dead. Let yourself get into the movie, as you watch the people trapped in that little house in Pennsylvania, not knowing whether any of them will survive the night. If you can do that you’re in for a very satisfying movie experience.
Now, onto the business end of things. Like all of our reviews here, this film demonstrates certain success principles that are useful in our everyday lives. You’ll get better results than the characters in Night of the Living Dead, I’m certain.
The success principles covered in this movie review are:
1. Never Give Up. Our hero, trapped all by himself in the house, does everything he can to survive. Once the dead begin to break into the house in all directions, he retreats down to the basement. There, he quickly dispatches the dead members of the family that took refuge there. Our hero never gives up hope, and never stops trying to survive through this awful night.
2. Persistence. Our hero stays consistent in his views about what will succeed in keeping the dead from getting into the house.
3. Master Mind. The hero has the others soon working together, boarding up the house and straightening the weak areas. Soon they are more or less working together as a cohesive whole , with the goal of survival foremost in their minds.
4. Goal Setting. During the film, we also see an organized group of law enforcement officials and citizens roaming the countryside. They are slowly but surely killing off the walking dead, one by one. The sheriff has a clear goal and objective in mind.
If you have not seen Night of the Living Dead, I urge you to see it as we draw closer to Halloween. I repeat that is the scariest film ever made, especially if you have not been jaded by all the zombie movies of the past 15 or 20 years.
