Welcome back to the second part of Building a Better Blog. Here’s a recap of what we covered yesterday.

  1. Make sure you define your purpose.
  2. Set and keep a reliable blogging schedule.
  3. Mix things up a bit, with the size and your topics of your posts.
  4. Get beyond just the words by using pictures, videos and graphs inside your posts.
  5. The size of each post is important, and should fit the topic at hand.
  6. Killer headlines will get you killer traffic.

Here’s the link for yesterday’s post. http://www.hightrafficwizard.info/how-to-create-a-great-blog-in-12-steps-part-one/

Now, on to part two.

  1. Your Design should fit Who You Are. The look and feel of your blog is a reflection of who you are. Each category, picture , and even the colors should be ones that you really like and tell people about you. Make sure you have the links to the social networking platforms you want to share your posts on. Have a comment section where people can write back to you.

  1. Create Momentum. You just can’t write a blog post and put it out there. It will be very difficult for people to find it unless you take action to get that content seen. You can create triggers within each post, each with a Call to Action to either subscribe to your posts or comment on them. Take a look at how I have created my triggers at: www.makemoney48.info By creating these trigger points within your posts, you can create a path to bring consumers back to you.

  1. Moderate Your Comments. With any sort of social media outreach, you will always have spammers and idiots out there who make comments and create nonsense and fill up your comment sections with junk. These can be either ignored or not approved in your blog. Under no circumstances are you to edit what they say. They have a right to say what they want, as stupid or offensive as it may be. Consider using a spam filter. Watch out for comments that have links for other products in them. This is a definite example of spam.

  1. 10. Categories and Tags are Vitally Important. Each and every blog post should fit into the category your platform. If you happen to write a post that does not fit one of your categories, create a new category. Inside of each post, pull out the keywords from the post and add them into the Tags section of the blog post. Search engines love to look for tags and keywords. The Tags section makes it easier for search engines to find these keywords.

  1. 11. Use Your Own Voice. Learn to create blogs the way you actually talk to people. Use a casual, informal manner of speaking. You can pretend you’re talking to a good friend on the telephone. The tone and words you use in a friendly conversation will go a long way to make your audience feel comfortable. Don’t worry about grammar or weird sloppy sentences. If that’s how you speak, that’s how you are.

  1. 12. Overthinking is Overwriting. Not every blog post needs to convey everything about a single topic. If you would tell every single detail about the 1986 World Series, your audience will be satisfied and there’ll be no need for anyone to comment. If you have six ways to pack a suitcase, write only about four of them. Ask people if they know any other way to pack a suitcase. Creating curiosity in your posts is a sure fire way to get interest, comments, and regular followers.

So that it. If you follow these guidelines, I’m sure you have an outstanding blog. If I have left anything out, please make sure you get back to me. If I get enough suggestions, I promise I will do a follow-up post by creating a great blog.
